“The company formed in late 1997 with the opening of our record store and mailorder service. Initially importing obscure house and techno records from around the world, then later exporting similar minded Dutch releases to overseas companies. The distribution wing had evolved by two years later, in 1999. This set-up eventually led to the start of the label, which saw its first release just before the millennium.
The label has continued to release a mix of upcoming local and international talent next to more established names. From artists like Tom Trago, San Proper, Aardvarck, Rednose Distrikt and Awanto 3 to international names like Hunee, Carl Craig, Xosar and KiNK to name just a few of them. Past, present or future music, we like to cover it all.
Events and parties are very relevant for Rush Hour and we have been organizing them since 1998. We started with a monthly residency at the legendary Paradiso venue here in Amsterdam. The night was called Paradisco 2000. Guests like Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Rick Wilhite, Roy Davis, Kerri Chandler, Joe Claussell, Danny Krivit and many more came and rocked these parties. Later on we organised events at Mazzo, Bitterzoet and many more venues around the city. Most recently our main spots in Amsterdam are Club Trouw & OT301. We often work with like minded souls at Rush Hour nights in major cities around the world..e.g. London, Paris, New York, Tokio & Berlin”.
