“It was a festive occasion when in July 1988 the American “Sweet Soul Music” singer Arthur Conley opened a small record shop in one of Amsterdam’s trendiest quarters, the Jordaan. The shop started with a modest collection, which was mainly aimed at lovers of Soul, Jazz and Rhythm and Blues.
While at the beginning this music was readily available on LP, it soon became clear that there was a great demand for it on CD. Today there is a wide range of both CDs and LPs. Latin-jazz , Acid-jazz, Rock-jazz, Vocal-jazz and Fusion can be found under the name of the artist artist or the instrument next to the collection of Swing, Bebop or Hard-bop or other forms of Jazz.
And besides this extensive soul collection you can also find old and recent Gospel-music, Blues, Rhythm and Blues, New Orleans, Cajun and Zydeco versions. And this is not all!
Funk, Original-Funk, from P-funk to Free-funk, Sixties-pop, Salsa, world-music and the better Rhythm and Blues are all available from stock!
Over the years Dick, Jeannet, and Ed have tried to offer as complete a collection of LPs, CDs and videos as possible. The shop however, is very small, so if you can’t find what you’re looking for, don’t hesitate to ask the owners, who are all passionate music lovers! They will also place your orders for you and they’ll keep you informed!”
