Disney is developing a gender-flipped television adaptation of Nick Hornby’s 1995 novel High Fidelity for its upcoming streaming services.
Unlike the original film (2000) starring John Cusack as a record-store owner, the new series will star a female lead, according to Deadline.
The project comes from writers Veronica West and Sarah Kucserka (Bull, Ugly Betty) and “it is described as a departure from the book and the movie while still capturing the romantic comedy and authentic spirit of the original source materials, ” Deadline says.
