‘David Bowie is’… David Bowie

“Theres a starman
waiting in the sky
Hed like to come and meet us
But he thinks hed blow our minds
Theres a starman waiting in the sky
Hes told us not to blow it
Cause he knows its all worthwhile
He told me:
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie”.

David Bowie is like his Starman. He is waiting in the sky. He is seeing us, and… we are remembering him. Bowie was/is a musical innovator, a cultural icon, a pioneer, an influencer… Bowie was/is ART.

The exhibition named David Bowie is, one of the most successful exhibitions in the long-standing history of the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), will land at Museu del Disseny de Barcelona (Barcelona Design Museum) starting May 25, 2017.

David Bowie is has already been seen by a 1.5 million visitors during its world tour to cities including Berlin, Paris and Chicago.

The exhibition explores the creative processes of David Bowie as a musical innovator and cultural icon, tracing his shifting style and sustained reinvention across five decades. The exhibition also focuses on his collaborative work with artists and designers, and demonstrates how his work has both influenced and been influenced by wider movements in art, design, music, and theater.

The visitor will see more than 300 objects. They include handwritten lyrics, original costumes, fashion, photography, film, music videos, set designs, Bowie’s own instruments and album artwork.

The exhibition has been on a worldwide tour since its inception at the V&A in 2013 and has travelled to nine venues in countries including Canada, Australia, Brazil and Japan.
