Waterloo is an independent record store located in the heart of Austin, Texas opened in 1982. They host regular in-store performances and artist signings. 6,400 square feet with an extensive selection of music spanning all styles, a special propensity for Texas artists, and a simple genre free a-z filing system.

Customers can listen to any album in the store before buying. And even after purchasing a record, taking it home and playing it, customers have ten days in which to return it – for whatever reason they chose! No questions are asked and a full exchange is provided. As long as the product returned to them in the same condition it went out in.

End of an Ear

“South Austin’s best record store,” according The Austin Chronicle, founded in 2005. “End of an Ear’s in-store performances likewise cater to an eclectic but in-the-know crowd, with bands setting up informally in the corner of the store for all-ages audiences that pack between the stacks.”

Antone’s Record Store

“After the success of the nightclub he founded in 1975, Clifford Antone opened the doors to Antone’s Record Shop in the summer of 1987. Located across the street from his legendary nightclub, the record shop quickly became the place to hang out before seeing whatever show was to take place later that evening. Still in its original location, just north of the UT campus, Antone’s Record Shop continues to host one of the largest selections of used vinyl in central Texas. With a heavy emphasis on Blues and Texas artists you can expect to find some out of print gems in the CD bins as well. After Clifford’s passing in 2006, long time employees Mike Buck, Forrest Coppock and Eve Monsees came together to continue the tradition that Clifford started.”
